At Selah Counseling Center, we understand that healing is a deeply personal journey. Sometimes, past experiences can continue to linger in ways that feel heavy or hard to explain. EMDR—Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing—is one approach we offer to help gently support you in working through those experiences and finding a greater sense of ease.

What is EMDR?

EMDR is a thoughtfully structured therapy that helps the brain process and make sense of difficult memories. When something overwhelming happens, it can sometimes feel “stuck,” showing up in our thoughts, emotions, or even our bodies. EMDR uses simple techniques like guided eye movements or tapping to help the brain reprocess these memories, allowing them to feel less intense over time.

How EMDR Can Help

Many people find EMDR to be a supportive and effective way to move through experiences that have been weighing on them. Some gentle benefits include:
  •  Easing the emotional intensity connected to past experiences
  •  Supporting more compassionate, balanced self-beliefs
  •  Reducing symptoms of anxiety, stress, and trauma
  •  Allowing healing without needing to talk through every detail
  •  Encouraging a deeper sense of calm and resolution
For many, EMDR feels like a way to process things at their own pace, with space for both safety and growth.

Care That Meets You Where You Are

At Selah Counseling Center, we’re grateful to have eight clinicians trained in EMDR, each bringing their own style and perspective. This allows us to connect you with someone who feels like a good fit for you.

We also offer flexibility in how you receive care. EMDR sessions are available in person or through telehealth, so you can choose the setting that feels most comfortable and supportive.

Is EMDR a Good Fit for You?

EMDR can be helpful for a variety of experiences, including:
  •  Trauma and past difficult events
  •  Anxiety or feeling overwhelmed
  •  Grief and loss
  •  Life transitions or stressful moments
  •  Lingering negative self-beliefs
If something from your past still feels present today, EMDR may offer a gentle way to begin working through it.

You Don’t Have to Do This Alone

Healing takes time, and it looks different for everyone. At Selah Counseling Center, we’re here to walk alongside you—offering support, understanding, and tools that can help you move toward a place of greater peace and balance.

If you’re curious about EMDR, we’d be honored to support you whenever you feel ready.
